The Men's Shelter Renovation transforms two connected historic buildings operated by Seattle's Union Gospel Mission in the Pioneer Square Preservation District, Seattle's first designated Historic District established in 1970. This comprehensive renovation addresses both the 1936 Duppenthaler Building's two-story structure and the 1904 Ace Hotel's six-story facade, focusing on ground floor chapel and community spaces that serve the shelter's residents and staff. The project balances historic preservation requirements with the Mission's vision for distinguished, community-building programming spaces that function for both religious services and regular meetings.

Creating dignified, durable spaces for community connection within Seattle's most treasured historic district.
